Our History
It all started with a dream. Proprietors Ralph and Carol met at the Jersey Shore and dreamed of owning a cottage close enough to the beach to hear the waves crash as their heads hit the pillow. In 1981 they purchased the property with two bungalows built in the 1940’s.
Ralph lovingly updated the cottage and opened the doors to vacationers. For thirty years the cottage at 16 and a half Trenton Avenue has provided a place for families to reconnect and relax.
Sandy
In October of 2012, Super Storm Sandy sent a storm surge over the sea wall in Ortley Beach just a block away. The powerful storm sent two story houses off their foundations and everything else floated away. The Sea Dream Cottage was hit by floating sheds and the foundation was cracked beyond repair. Carol took on the challenge of rebuilding the dream with her children. A new chapter in our ‘Sandy Journey’ has begun as we await the finished project. The family home will be a two story residence and Sea Dream Cottage will be a single family home nestled in the rear of the property. It won’t be long until we are sea dreaming again!
